Daisy True was adopted from China in 2006 at the age of 14 months by actress Meg Ryan (born Margaret Mary Emily Anne Hyra), who has said that Daisy True was almost named Rae. “In the end, I didn’t like it... I got so nervous about it... it’s a guy’s name, and she had enough to deal with, you know?”
Apparently, Daisy’s personality is what shaped her whimsical name. “[Daisy’s] a really ridiculously happy person, and it was the happiest name I could think of,” Ms. Ryan said on "Late Show with David Letterman." “She’s a Daisy. She’s got the most open, beautiful, honest face you’ll ever see.”
