Born to actress Reese Witherspoon and James Toth on Sept. 27, 2012, fans speculate the baby boy’s name may have been picked because of the formative years his mama spent in Nashville.
The celebrity trend of naming babies after locations is “a trend that had its roots starting in the late 1980s," Linda RosenKrantz, co-founder of Nameberry, told the Huffiington Post. "Several celebs pick[ed] names from the American West, like Austin, Dallas, and Dakota, including Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, whose now-grown daughter Dakota is the star of a new sitcom. But lately the trend seems to be heating up and [is] much more widespread."
