If you really want to delve into Internet security, encrypt. Encryption jumbles up your data into a series of numbers that only unscramble properly when you have the correct number key to unlock them.

You can encrypt your iPhone, your Android device, or your computer. Macs have a built-in encryption called Fire Vault (System Preferences > Security > Fire Vault). And PCs can use programs such as BitLocker, TruCrypt, and Disk Cryptor. 

But be warned, having encrypted files often raises suspicion at international borders and once you encrypt your files, they are still accessible, but you sometimes can’t decrypt them.
