Streak snapped: Aug. 4 when Utley went 0-for-5 in a win over the Mets. He struck out twice, but nearly beat out a grounder in the seventh inning.

Background: Utley's streak is the longest by a strictly left-handed batter since Tommy Holmes's 37-game hitting streak with the Boston Braves in 1945 ... 2006 was a breakout year for the all-star second baseman, who batted .309, drove in 102 runs, and belted 32 homers.
