The Baseball Hall of Fame is honoring Babe Ruth during the 2014 season with a special exhibit. Here are some interesting facts about the 'Sultan of Swat.'

2. Introduction to the majors

Upon arriving in Boston on July 11, 1914, the 19-year-old Ruth was immediately pressed into service, making his major-league debut by pitching seven innings before a crowd of 11,087 at Fenway Park. He struck out the first batter he faced. The Red Sox eventually won the game, but Ruth was not involved in the decision, having been lifted for a pinch-hitter, which seems ludicrous in retrospect.
