… for standing their ground in a dispute with the university over the underfunded football program. Cuts in state funding have negatively impacted the historically black Louisiana college, which once was a football powerhouse. But the football players felt that being asked to take long bus trips to out-of-state games in Kansas City and Indianapolis was too physically taxing and put them at a disadvantage. The players refused to play one road game to send their message. Sadly, Grambling won only one game under three different coaches this past tumultuous season.
