One of the members of the group of friends that is central to the 2005 CBS comedy is Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), college friend of protagonist Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) and wife to Ted's best friend Marshall (Jason Segel). Lily works as a kindergarten teacher for much of the series, though she also loves art and painting, and has a baby named Marvin with Marshall.
Hannigan is also well-known for her role on the 1997 WB series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which was created by Joss Whedon, and many actors from Whedon's productions have guest-starred on "Mother."
