The show aired from 1993 to 2002 and followed FBI agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) as they investigated cases involving the paranormal. Scully takes a more pragmatic approach to their encounters, while Mulder believes in aliens and other phenomena. While the show often featured a new case each episode, there were also plots that ran throughout the series, such as Mulder and Scully's battles against the mysterious villain, the Cigarette-Smoking Man.
