The novel chronicling the decadent excess of the 1920s was published in 1922 and is best for students in high school and older. The book follows a fictional society on Long Island, New York, including millionaire Jay Gatsby. Athough fictional, it serves as a realistic portrait of the decadence and societal change afoot in 1920s America, through the eyes of those most resistant to let go of their wealth and social status.
