The budget for "War Horse" included hiring "equine hair and makeup artist" Ali Bannister, who was responsible for making sure that the markings of the 14 horses portraying the film's hero, Joey, all matched up. Bannister also provided the horse sketches featured in the film.

Fun "War Horse" fact: The main horse portraying Joey in the film, named Finder, also worked on the 2003 film "Seabiscuit".
