Based on the hugely influential Michael Lewis book of the same name, "Moneyball" was by far the more popular of the Brad Pitt movies on the list this year. The total annual payroll of the 2002 Athletics (the subject of the movie) was $41 million – $9 million less that it cost to make the film.

Fun fact: Though "Moneyball" is based on a true story, Jonah Hill's character, Peter Brand, is actually a fictional composite inspired by MLB executive Paul dePodesta, who was a real-life  assistant to Billy Beane (played by Brad Pitt in the movie).
