"Downton" production designer Donal Woods says he was inspired by the American hit drama "West Wing" when designing the servants' quarters. On both shows, says Woods, many characters are moving around at the same time and so large hallways are required to allow cameras to fit in there, too. "It's a similar situation where you've got lots of rooms," he said. "The ['Downton'] set was designed for flow and movement, as below stairs is busy and hectic."
