Actress Joanne Froggatt, who plays maid Anna, spoke fondly of the scenes in which the staff all meet in the servants' hall, which gives many of the actors the chance to be together. "We have quite a giggle," she said. Actor Rob James Collier, who plays the Machiavellian underbutler Thomas on "Downton," said the camaraderie between those who play staff was immediate. "I always remember [producer] Liz Trubridge saying to me in the first week that, as she watched us on the monitor, it was like we'd been here for years," he said. "They were ecstatic that we all bonded so well, because it creates a realistic relationship onscreen."
