The University of St Andrews' registrar and secretary, David Corner, was put in charge of looking after the prince during his time in college and so was involved in helping arrange the security for Prince William at the school. Corner says that while some of the private protection officers attempted to go incognito, the effect was less than convincing. "The protection people were a scream," Corner said. "They dressed like seventies middle-class students – in cords and jackets. They stood out a mile trying to blend in and look like students."
