For pure entertainment value, there has never been a greater women's soccer player than Marta. She is the queen of the "did you see that?" moment – the player who is undoubtedly the muse of more YouTube moments than any other.

After the years of American dominance, when Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy set the standard for women's soccer greatness with their fitness and speed, Marta revolutionized the sport, introducing a more technical side – the delicate chips, the sublime turns, the subtle shimmies. The result was a renaissance of the sport. But none of the new generation have yet been able to match the brilliance of the original article.
