The University of Cambridge rivals North American universities in reputation, landing the only non-US spot in the top five this year and maintaining its No. 3 ranking for the second year in a row. Some of Cambridge’s colleges date back to the 1200s, and several famous intellectuals – including naturalist Charles Darwin and physicist Isaac Newton – graduated from Cambridge. Today, more than 18,300 students study there.
