World rankings: top 10 universities around the globe

Britain's leading higher education publication, The Times Higher Education, today released its 2012 reputation rankings for universities worldwide. Here is a list of the top 10.

2. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – Cambridge, Mass.

Ranked No. 2 for the second year in a row, MIT counts more than 77 graduates and faculty as Nobel prize recipients, and 38 have been named MacArthur Fellows. Founded in 1861, MIT's student body consists of close to 11,000 people, and there are 1,018 faculty members, including Noam Chomsky.
