Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

… for completing the course after a 40-day interruption that followed the finish-line bombing that killed three people and injured more than 260. About 3,000 runners took advantage of an event called OneRun, which provided a healing experience by allowing them to cover the last mile. A crowd cheered them on as they crossed the finish line. The corporate organizers donated any money beyond the costs of putting on the run to the charity set up to benefit bombing victims.
