… for inventing Soccket, an innovative soccer ball that can store energy for later use to run small reading lamps, thus the electric socket-sounding name. The ball stores kinetic energy on a battery that can power lights for three hours. While the foam ball doesn’t have quite the feel or attributes of a standard ball, it is a reasonable alternative for children in the developing world, where energy sources are often less reliable and environmentally friendly than in developed countries.
