NFL draft: 5 reasons it is must-see TV

All the hullabaloo surrounding the NFL draft can be a bit baffling to the uninitiated. Commissioner Roger Goodell just walks onstage, calls a name, and then shakes a hand. Hardly gripping stuff. But here are five reasons it is such a big draw: 

4. The fantasy game

Is your next fantasy football stud standing here among the top draft prospects on Radio City Music Hall? Probably.

Rookie players don’t have a huge effect on fantasy rosters, which are largely predicated on the performance of players in previous seasons. But it can be helpful for fantasy managers to keep draftees in mind, especially ones going to teams where they will have an immediate opportunity to make an impact. (Andrew Luck, for instance, is going to play immediately for the Colts).

Plus, it’s a self-selecting group. If you watch enough football to be an effective fantasy football manager, you’ll probably miss football enough to watch the draft.
