Karl Rove has resuscitated his political career and now runs Crossroads GPS and American Crossroads, two political organizations that could spend $1 billion combined to promote Republicans during the coming election. Here are five political pearls from arguably the No. 1 conservative powerbroker in America.

5. Obama's campaigning

With Obama taking a tour of three swing states – Iowa, Colorado, and Virginia – this week, Rove said he thought the president would do better to stay in Washington, because “it’s so unbecoming” for a president to campaign during his opponent’s convention.

Rove said his advice to President Bush in 2004 was for a few days off.

“I also think it’s a tactical mistake because the president is exhausted,” Rove said. “There’s a reason he stood up there and said, ‘If you built a business, you didn’t do that, someone else did that.’ Because he’s tired!”
