Home to roughly 2.2 million people, Houston is most populous city in Texas. Residents also worked almost a full hour longer in the office on average than New Yorkers, but spent far less time commuting, to bring Houston's combined total of working hours and commute to 48 hours and 18 minutes. The city's traffic situation was summed up by the Houston Press in March 2014 as such:

From pothole-filled streets and congested freeways to never-ending construction and poor planning, nothing inspires the kind of hatred you find when engaging a Houstonian about traffic.
