"Homeland," which premiered on Showtime in 2011, stars red-haired Damian Lewis as Nicholas Brody, a sergeant who was taken prisoner by Al Qaeda but is rescued and returns to the US. He is given a hero's welcome by all except a member of the CIA, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), who thinks he became a member of Al Qaeda while being held captive. He is soon elected to Congress representing Virginia.
In an interview, Lewis said he worked as a salesman pre-fame and tried to sell customers car alarms, which he said he hated.
