Where 'Mad Men' left off

After extended contract negotiations, the critically acclaimed show 'Mad Men' went on an unexpected hiatus last year, ending its fourth season in October 2011 and not returning until last month. Fans who were agonizing over some of the cliffhangers in the fourth season finale have waited impatiently for the return of ad executive Don Draper, his staff, and his family. But it's been a long time since the last new episode aired. Here's a guide to where we left the 1960s men and women last season.

After the company lost Lucky Strike as a client, the new business was in trouble, and Don tried to fix things by writing a full-page ad in The New York Times saying the company would no longer represent tobacco companies, but the bold move alienates the other partners, and the company is still forced to lay off many employees. When Don was left by himself to take his children to Disneyland after the family's housekeeper was unable to go, he asked his secretary Megan Calvet (Jessica Paré) to come with him, and while there, unexpectedly proposed. Megan said yes, and Don announced the news at work, but when the season finale ended, he was staring out the window, looking like he was still unsure of himself and not feeling content.
