'Lincoln' actor Daniel Day-Lewis is already a frontrunner for this year's Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the sixteenth president. Here are a few other actors who took home a statuette when they portrayed real people.

3. Reese Witherspoon

Witherspoon, a first-time winner, took home the Oscar in 2005 for portraying singer June Carter Cash in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line." Witherspoon did her own vocal work. "Witherspoon has nailed it before, notably in Election, but her portrayal of June is astounding in its vitality and richness," Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers wrote of the performance.
