'Lincoln' actor Daniel Day-Lewis is already a frontrunner for this year's Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the sixteenth president. Here are a few other actors who took home a statuette when they portrayed real people.

For playing the still-current queen of England, Elizabeth II, Mirren won her first Oscar in 2006. The film, titled "The Queen," followed the monarch after the death of her son's ex-wife, Diana. "As Queen Elizabeth, Helen Mirren gives the mostly subtly expressive performance based on a living historical figure that I've ever seen," Rainer wrote in his review.
