With "Ark" producer and writer George Lucas, Spielberg set out to make an homage to the serial movies he and Lucas had both loved growing up. In the 1981 film, Harrison Ford plays the archaeologist Indiana Jones, who runs afoul of Nazis who are trying to get their hands on the fabled Ark of the Covenant. Ford suggested the idea for the famous scene in which a swordsman waves his weapon dramatically at Indiana and the archaeologist just shoots him.
