After a bidding war involving several studios, Spielberg got the rights for his 1993 film about a dinosaur theme park where the exhibits escape. The movie was based on the novel by Michael Crichton. The famous scene in which a T. rex approaches a car and ripples appear in a glass of water was supposedly inspired by Spielberg listening to the band Earth, Wind & Fire in his car and the music causing vibrations. During filming, the cast and crew were on the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i when a hurricane hit, but they filmed parts of the hurricane and were able to use them in the movie.
