Many remember actor Matthew Broderick as Ferris in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” but fewer remember him in an earlier role as David, a teen who gets tangled up with the US government in this 1983 film. A computer whiz, David hacks into a Pentagon computer to play his favorite war-simulation video game “Global Thermonuclear War.” Little does he know that his game has real-life consequences, like sending a nuclear bomb to Russia. David has to work with the Pentagon to avoid a potential start to World War III.
