A McDonald's marquis is illuminated in New York's Times Square. Restaurant ad spending was up 5.2 percent in 2013, and McDonald's led the spending charge.

New York City doesn’t need additional media reps and visitors, but it will get them in the run up to Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2. McDonald’s, an official sponsor of the game, has prepared for the crowds by placing free charging stations for cellphones and tablets in five central-Manhattan restaurants as a value-added service.

Provided through a partnership with Chicago-based Power Tower, each kiosk has 12 charging outlets that can be used simultaneously. They will be in place until Feb. 3

McDonald’s restaurants with the charging stations are:
♦ 341 5th Avenue (between 33rd & 34th);

♦ 490 8th Avenue (between 34th & 35th);

♦ 556 7th Avenue (40th Street);

♦ 220 West 42nd Street (between 7th & 8th Ave);

♦ 1560 Broadway (Times Square).
