Starting wages: $14.50

Zappos, the online shoe retailer acquired by Amazon in 2009, pays its employees approximately $14.50 per hour. Zappos' confindent that entry-level employees are committed to the company is high -- each new worker is offered $3,000 to quit after their initial training if they feel Zappos isn't the right fit. The company's headquarters are run as a "boss-free" workplace where workers manage themselves. Employees can also bring their dogs to work and get coaching to set and attain 30-day personal or professional goals.
