Sept. 18, 2015: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issues a public statement about its ongoing investigation of the Volkswagen defeat devices and recalls several vehicles from model years 2009-2015. The agency also says that Volkswagen will be responsible for a "$3,750 fine for each violation that occurred on or after January 13, 2009," in addition to other fines.
