10 best books of July: the Monitor's picks

The Monitor's book critics give thumbs up to these 10 new July titles.

3. "The Silkworm," by Robert Galbraith

Private investigator Cormoran Strike and sidekick Robin Ellacott return in "The Silkworm," the second mystery by Robert Galbraith, a.k.a. J.K. Rowling. This time Strike and Ellacott (also featured in "The Cuckoo's Calling") are called upon to investigate the disappearance of quarrelsome novelist Owen Quine. Strike and Ellacott are an appealing duo and – as we all know – J.K. Rowling can tell a story. In short, this may be the perfect summer read.
