James Browning's debut novel is set at the Hale Boarding School for Boys, where students are quick to point fingers at fracking when their tap water catches on fire. A student named Win, studying at the school grace of an endowment by a fracking company, might get the opportunity to fix the tap water problem via a talent for Scrabble. "It's very inventive," Nelson says of the book. "It's a coming-of-age in some ways."
