Here are some of the new June book releases that the Monitor's book critics liked best.

5. "The Dog Who Could Fly," by Damien Lewis

Already a bestseller in Great Britain where it was released, this book tells the irresistible true story of Ant, the abandoned German Shepherd puppy rescued by a Czech airman fleeing enemy territory. The pair eventually made it safely to England and the Royal Air Force. Together they flew countless missions and became decorated British war heroes.
