"Dizzy City" author Griffin tells the story of the game of Ping-Pong, from its use in China as a tool to distract citizens from tragedies to the historic visit of American Ping-Pong players to China in the 1970s as part of a historic détente. "It's about how Ping-Pong became the currency of diplomacy in the 1970s [and] the Chinese and the Japanese used Ping-Pong as a way to cheer people up," Nelson says.
