10 best books of September: the Monitor's picks

Here are the 10 September books most recommended by the Monitor's book critics.

2. "MaddAddam," by Margaret Atwood

With "MaddAddam," Canadian master writer Margaret Atwood completes the dystopian trilogy she began with "Oryx & Crake" and "The Year of the Flood." This third and final piece tells the story of the small group who have survived a man-made plague that has wiped out most of the rest of the Earth's population. Characters including Toby, Zeb, and Snowman-the-Jimmy act and interact to create a dark, funny, intelligent tale that is being called "vintage Atwood." The Monitor's review of "Maddaddam" is available here.
