This fourth short story collection from MacArthur "genius" George Saunders may for some readers echo the works of Samuel Beckett, says Nelson. Saunders' stories are rich in "what people say, the voices in their heads." Nelson admits that she's "not always a big fan of the ironic" but says that Saunders "just does this so well" and that "there's real heart and soul in these stories."
