"The Poisonwood Bible" author Barbara Kingsolver explores climate change and the attitudes of a community in her new novel, in which farm wife Dellarobia glimpses what looks like a valley of fire while walking one day. As townsfolk doubt her and her story attracts national headlines, Dellarobia confronts what she thought she knew about her own faith and her place in her community. The novel is Kingsolver at her best, says Nelson. "The book, as most of Barbara Kingsolver's books are, is this amazing blend of social politics and real people. There aren't a lot of writers who can pull this off, who can write a book about global warming that are about people, too, and you don't feel like you're getting a lecture."
