Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

The following books may seem harmless to most readers, but they all made it onto banned books lists at one time or another.
Say what you will about censors: They are not without a sense of irony. Ray Bradbury's dystopian novel about a world in which books are illegal was pulled from the required reading list of the West Marion High School in Foxworth, Miss. in 1998. Officials objected to the book because it contained an expletive they regarded as blasphemous.
