Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Doisneau left his beloved Paris in 1960 to take photos for Fortune Magazine, and in "Palm Springs," the images he captured of Americans both living in the area and on vacation capture the world of the California city in everyday moments like those photographs he took in Paris. The book includes letters he wrote about his stay there, in which he called Palm Springs the "world capital of winter golf."
