Pollack remembered Dustin Hoffman convincing him to take the part of Hoffman's agent in the 1982 film "Tootsie." "Dustin drove me crazy until I said I'd do it," Pollack said. "Dustin said, 'If a peer of mine tells me I'm never going to work again, I'm not going to put on the dress. But if you tell me I'm never going to work again, maybe I'll put on the dress, so you have to play the part'.... he sent me two dozen roses and a card: 'Please be my agent. Love, Dorothy.'"
