Belem, Brazil – World Social Forum, the annual countercultural gathering to protest the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which begins Wednesday.

Berlin, Madrid, London, Brussels – Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will visit Europe (through Feb. 2). He’s expected to focus on the global economic crisis.
