World rankings: Top 10 universities in 2014

Britain’s higher-education consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released its annual global ranking of universities for 2014. Here are the top 10 schools: 

#5 (tie): University of Oxford

As the oldest English-speaking university in the world, Oxford has had a long time to establish and perfect its global stature — more than 900 years, in fact. Perhaps that’s why it is the highest ranked university for employer reputation. But Oxford doesn’t rest on those laurels. It also has the world’s best departments of English, geography, and modern languages, not to mention 26 British prime ministers among its illustrious alumni.
