Rebekah Brooks is the former editor-in-chief of News of the World and the ex-CEO of News International. She is also the highest-level News Corp. official arrested so far in connection with the scandal. Ms. Brooks was arrested on March 13 on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, reports the Guardian, along with her husband, Charlie. The pair were two of six arrested as part of Operation Weeting, the Metropolitan police’s investigation into the phone-hacking scandal. The Brookses were later released on bail pending an April court date.

Brooks is also close friends with James Murdoch, who preceded her as CEO of News International.
