In a third case, Garzón is accused of dropping an investigation of executives at Spain’s largest bank, Banco Santander, in exchange for payments covering courses at New York University during a sabbatical.
“I did not solicit, administer or receive, either personally or through third parties, directly or indirectly, money or gifts from the entities and corporations that sponsored the courses and seminars where I was academic director," Garzón said, according to the Guardian, which reports that his claims are backed by NYU.
This third case has raised concern that he is “being subjected to a concerted campaign of persecution,” the Guardian reports.
