2011 with the Los Angeles Dodgers

Lifetime batting average: .289

Streak occurred in: 6th year of still-active, eight-year major league career

Streak snapped: May 7 when Ethier went 0-for-4 in a loss to the Mets. In his final at-bat in the eighth inning, he struck out swinging at a ball off the plate.

Background: Ethier fell just one game shy of tying the Dodgers' club record 31-game hitting streak, turned in by Willie Davis in 1969. Last year, however, he set a new team record by collecting 10 straight base hits, surpassing the nine of Ron Cey in 1977.
