Encouraged by the success of Carolina’s Cam Newton and Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton last season, five teams hand the offensive controls to five players fresh out of the college ranks.

While Baylor’s Robert Griffin III was winning last season’s Heisman Trophy, Austin Davis was winning the more obscure but still significant Burlsworth Trophy as the nation’s best player who began his college career as a nonscholarship walk-on. Davis copped the honor by erasing every statistical record once set by Brett Favre at Southern Miss, where Davis threw for a school record 3,331 yards in 2011.
