Good things continue to happen for Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks.
In case you missed Wednesday night's NBA scores, the Knicks beat the Sacramento Kings, 100-85, thanks in part to 13 assists by Lin. The Knicks have now seven games in a row, dating back to Lin's entrance into the lineup on Feb. 5.
Thursday, reports started surfacing that Lin has been invited to the Slam Dunk Contest during the NBA's All-Star weekend (Feb. 24-26) in Orlando. Lin has been asked to 'assist' several of the participants, much like Baron Davis's role for 2011 Slam Dunk champion Blake Griffin.
You might remember that Davis lobbed a basketball coming out of an automobile that Griffin soared over to capture the Slam Dunk title.
In other 'Linsanity' news Thursday, Nike reportedly is creating a 'Jeremy Lin' shoe to help capture some of the excitement over the Harvard grad.
Counterkicks reports, "His newly reported custom Hyperfuse 2011 PE is flavored up in New Yorks Knicks team colors, we’ve been told."
Speaking of Knicks team colors, Jeremy Lin's No. 17 jersey has shot to the top of the NBA uniform have-to-haves. According to the NBA, Lin captured the top-selling jersey category for the period between Feb. 4-12.
Finally, you know you've crossed some cultural threshold when David Letterman's 'Late Show' comes up with a 'Top 10' list about you. Wednesday night, Letterman debuted the 'Top Ten Worst Jeremy Lin puns.' For example, at No. 5: "Lin-terest-bearing Lin-vestment grade financial Lin-strument"
Lin and the Knicks will next host the Hornets on Friday night. May the 'Linsanity' continue unabated.
