George Mason was the No. 11 seed in the East region of the NCAA tournament. After taking out No. 6 seed Michigan State in the first round, GMU beat defending champion and No. 3 seed North Carolina in the second round, rolled past Wichita State in the Sweet Sixteen, and shocked everyone by defeating No. 1 seed UConn in the Elite Eight. Finally, George Mason fell in the Final Four to Florida, who went on to win the first of two straight national titles.
